Program Details.

DREAMS (DETERMINED-RESILLIENT-EMPOWERED-AIDS FREE-MENTORED-SAFE) Program is a girl centered program with an aim of reducing HIV new infection among adolescent girls and young women (AGYW).

DREAMS program targets AGYW ages 9-24years with comprehensive care package which include interventions categorized as:

Structural- Education subsidies, Parental and caregiver programs, combined socio-economic strengthening.

Behavioral-Evidence Based Interventions

Biomedical - HIV testing, Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, Contraceptive method mix education and provision, Post gender-based violence care; interventions geared towards HIV and gender-based violence prevention.

Pamoja has implemented DREAMS program since 2015 in Seme Sub-County-East and North Seme wards and Kisumu West Sub- County having enrolled over 13,000 adolescent girls and young women and currently have 6,000 AGYW actively benefiting form the program.

For comprehensive approach to prevention of HIV and other vulnerabilities AGYW face Pamoja is working in partnerships with Health, Education, Interior Ministry, other government line ministries to support implementation of the program activities.

Since the start of DREAMS program Pamoja has had the following achievements:

Pamoja has been recognized as being the first institution to successfully implement PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) prevention program among Adolescent Girls and Young Women through community safe spaces, in Kisumu County and Kenya.

Education: School fees subsidies to over 2,000 students.

School uniform, school fees subsidies and dignity pack distribution to Adolescent girls to retain them in school

Economic strengthening: sponsoring girls to vocational schools for hands on training skills, IGAs for young women.
